| Georgia Gray - Corporate Communications Coordinator of Supreme Ventures Sports Betting, makes a point to a JUSTBET customer |
On Tuesday, January 26, 2010 Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL)through its subsidiary Supreme Ventures Sports Betting (SVSB) in partnership with Intralot S.A (the International technology provider for Supreme Ventures Sports Betting), launched its long anticipated sports betting game, allowing Jamaicans the opportunity to place wagers on various international sporting events. After the first week of operations, all indications are that the new game, being marketed under the brand JUSTBET, has so far been doing very well.
"Although we have launched with just 4 locations - 3 in Kingston and 1 in Spanish Town, the response from the public to JUSTBET has been very, very positive as was expected," said SVL's Sonia Davidson, Vice President - Group Corporate Communications. "We expect it to get even better as we increase our network of locations across the island, and as we come upon more big-ticket sporting events on the sports calendar like the Super Bowl, the ICC World Twenty20, the NBA playoffs, the IAAF Athletics Season and of course, the FIFA World Cup later this summer."
The first week of operations for JUSTBET, featured wagering on some mouth-watering sporting match-ups, like the Australia vs. Pakistan One-day internationals, the Arsenal vs., Manchester United English Premier League clash, and the Jamaica vs. Canada International Friendly.
Wagering took place across the English, Scottish, Brazilian, Italian, Belgian, Portuguese, Spanish and French Leagues, as well as on the Africa Cup of Nations.
What is expected to have bettors licking their fingers though, will be the opportunity to place bets on the Australia vs. West Indies One-Day International and Twenty20 Series which begins on Saturday, February 6; the NBA games from now through to the end of the 2009-10 season in June; and of course on Super Bowl XLIV, the National Football League's Championship Game, on Sunday, February 7. This game will showcase the champions of the American Football Conference - Indianapolis Colts, going up against the National Football Conference Champions - New Orleans Saints.
The Super Bowl is one of the world's biggest betting events annually, and is expected to attract significant betting interest locally as well.
In addition to the NFL, cricket and basketball offerings, football bettors will no doubt have their eyes on this weekend's big English Premier League clash: Chelsea vs. Manchester United, also on Sunday, February 7.
One important note is the fact that no bets will be accepted after 12 noon on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as per the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Act, which dictate that, all Supreme Ventures Sports Betting locations (as with all other Bookmakers) must be closed 12 noon on days that feature racing at Caymanas Park. Additionally the Law does not permit betting/gaming to be done on a Sunday. This means that bets on sporting events being played this Sunday, like the Super Bowl, MUST be placed by noon on Saturday.
JUSTBET programmes, which list all the available matches and events for betting, and their respective odds, are issued twice per week through the Supreme Ventures Sports Betting locations.
Tuesday's programme consists of events/matches from Tuesday to Thursday and Friday's programme consists of events/matches from Friday - Monday. JUSTBET programmes can also be obtained from Supreme Ventures' website at http://www.supremeventures.com/documents/sportsbettingprogrammes
