|Phillip Field - $362M Super Lotto Jackpot Winner from Barbados
The Super Lotto game promoted by Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) shares a lot in common with PowerBall these days. The Super Lotto Jackpot was hit for the 3rd time in February 2012 at J$362M and the US PowerBall Jackpot was also hit in February at US$336.4M, the 3rd largest prize in the game's history.
Super Lotto is a multi-jurisdictional game played in the Caribbean, whereas PowerBall is a multi-jurisdictional game played through several states in the USA. The participating territories in Super Lotto are: the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Maarten and the US Virgin Islands.
The three Super Lotto winners so far are:
- J. Halley (J$467M - St. Maarten)
- Frederick P (J$387M - Jamaica)
- P. Field (J$362M - Barbados)
Eighty-one year-old Louise White of Rhode Island in the USA won the PowerBall Jackpot last month, after satisfying the craving of a family member for a rainbow sherbet dessert and bought the ticket on impulse at the store.
After realizing she had won, White tucked the winning ticket into her Bible and went to sleep holding the Bible, bringing it with her to breakfast the next day until she could eventually store it in a safe deposit box. Mr. Field, who won the Super Lotto in Barbados, didn't realize he was the winner until the Barbados Lottery published as advertisement headlined: Is it You? He then decided to check his ticket at the retailer and was advised that he needed to go to the Lottery HQ to claim his prize.
White elected to take the cash option and will receive a lump sum payment of US$210M, the highest cash option payout ever for Powerball. Mr. Field, like all the other Super Lotto jackpot winners was paid the full amount of the jackpot less applicable taxes.
Both Super Lotto and Powerball are offered on the GTECH technology platform, the leading Gaming Technology and Services Provider. Tickets for the Super Lotto game can be purchased at any SVL agent.
